Under normal circumstances, the vaginal wall behind the front and touch each other so there is no room in the vagina, except when the vaginal opening (eg during examination or during sexual intercourse).

In adult women, the cavity has a length of around 7.6 vagian – 10 cm. Lower third of the vagina is a muscle that controls the diameter of the vagina. Two thirds of the vagina is located on top of these muscles and easily stretched. Cervix (neck of the womb) is located at the top of the vagina.

During the reproductive years, the vaginal mucus layer has a wrinkled surface. Before puberty and after menopause, the layer of mucus becomes slippery.

The uterus is an organ shaped like a pair and is located on top of vagina. The uterus is located behind the bladder and in front of the rectum, 6 and bound by ligaments. The uterus is divided into 2 parts, the cervix and the corpus (body of the uterus). Uterine cervix is the lower part that opens into the vagina. The corpus is usually bent toward the front.

During the reproductive years, the length of the corpus is two times the length of the cervix. The corpus is a rich network of muscles that can be widened to save the fetus. During the delivery process, the wall muscles contract so the baby is pushed out through the cervix and vagina.

A channel that allows remote sperm through the cervix into the uterus and menstrual blood out. The cervix is usually a good barrier for bacteria, except during menstruation and during ovulation (release of egg cells).
