Contraception for Mature Age Women

Naturally, there are increasing rapidly ages, the body’s ability to produce female hormones estrogen and progesterone decreases. That is why, fertility declines with age. Even so, a woman can still become pregnant at the age of 30s, 40s, even at the age of 50s.

High number of abortions in England in recent years especially in women in their 40s allegedly because they are not ready to become pregnant and their belief in that age could not be pregnant again.

Abortion was also conducted, among others, for reasons of fetal defect that often occurs in women aged mature pregnancies. Hence, the British government is promoting the campaign use of contraceptives for women until the age of menopause in order to prevent an unwanted pregnancy.

According to Julie Bentley of British family planning agencies, almost all contraceptive methods can be used for women aged 35 years and over. “Many are surprised to find herself pregnant. At first they assumed that menstruation does not come as menopausal symptoms, but because she was pregnant,” she said.

Based on the curve of fertility, most fertile women age 20-35 years in age. However, the possibility of pregnancy remains high in women aged 30-34 years had the highest fertility rate, ie, 113.1 births per 1000 women. Yet the birth rate among women over 40 increased sharply in recent years, particularly in developed countries.
